006: What You Do In August Will Determine Your Income For The Rest Of The Year
I just wrapped up my founding members' launch for Made For This. 17 amazing ladies trusted me & bet on themselves. They are already in there doing the work, showing up, & just chose their first focus project.
Some of them are working on a consistent social media schedule. One lady is determined to convert a spare bedroom into her new office. I am working on my health & I’ll be focused on 30 minutes of movement a day, preferably strength training. If I have to do cardio, I will, but I’m not prioritizing that right now.
So it got to be 8:30pm last night & I knew I hadn’t gotten my 30 minutes in. Yesterday was a really long day with lots of unexpected interruptions that we had no control over, so I didn’t make it to the gym. Nothing in me wanted to work out at 8:30pm at night. But I had committed to it. And so I put on my tennis shoes & attacked the hills in my neighborhood. Brian got committed too in the process!
Ok, today I’m going to switch gears on you & I’m gonna talk to you about making money. Lots of money. Some people have a problem with that, like there’s a certain limit that we’re all allowed to have or that “this much” is too much. Why?
You will only make as much money as you allow yourself to believe is possible for you, but also what you believe is moral & right.
So what I want to disprove to you today, in case you might have some of those thoughts swirling around up there, is that there is no imaginary cap or limit where money is good on this side of that line & bad on the other side of the line.
Our brains will literally do that crap to us. $100k a year is alright. But not $500k a year. Or maybe $500k is ok, but what about one million a year? How about 10 million a year?
Can you even comprehend what some of that money would look like & mean for you if you made that much in one year? My guess is no.
And I’ll just be honest with you. I can’t fathom some of those numbers yet, but I’m getting there.
None of those numbers are good or bad. Money is a tool. Money is something of value that we exchange for something else of value. And it’s all made up. We made up the values.
Maybe you don’t think money is bad. Maybe your thing is that you just don’t value it or you’re not motivated by it. Go back to the last episode where we talked about BS beliefs to get rid of because that’s one of them. I call total bull crap on that.
Money is what makes the world go around. I bet you value freedom of choice. I bet you value your kids’ safety. I bet you value quality time with your family. I bet you value experiences with them. I bet you value getting your parents the best care possible as they age. I bet you value getting to make a difference in someone’s life when they just need some help.
You can’t do any of that without money.
Money is not good or bad. But money is necessary. And the more you make, the more people you can help - directly or indirectly.
Money is everywhere. And people love to spend it. In fact, we are about to go into Q4, which is when people spend so much more money than they do at other times of the year.
The ones who are preparing for that now in August will be the ones who come out on top at the end of this year.
I’ve always been very independent, but I took it to another level once I was single. And I learned multiple ways to create money. Money really is everywhere. And one of the income streams that I love most is in the online space.
And the reason is because what you create is scalable. It doesn’t take anymore of my time once it’s created to continue generating revenue. Essentially, I can create a product or a course one time, build the systems around it & then turn on the machine to sell it on repeat. Of course, you still have to show up & market & build your brand, but the actual work is done, the product is created. That’s a lot different from a service based business. A service based business is limited by the capacity of the owner.
I came from the photography industry & I absolutely loved it, but my income was capped. There was only one of me & I could only service a certain number of clients while providing a consistent experience. So I knew I’d probably never make above this certain number in sales. Even with $5000 sales averages, my income was capped, because there was only so much of me. And it was a good living, but it wasn’t going to do what I needed & wanted in life.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that multiple income streams, especially passive ones like online income, is vital.
So here’s where I stand & what I’m all about. I am about helping you get out of your own way, helping you get to your next level, helping you get more of what matters done & helping you create multiple life changing income streams.
If you want it, it’s out there for you. You have gifts & passions that can easily be turned into an online revenue stream.
Your business might be seasonal. My photography business definitely was. If you want more consistent income, creating a digital product or a course can do that for you. I’m not going to say it’s easy, but once it’s created, it will serve & your bank account very well.
That’s how I’ve been able to create an emergency fund & invest in real estate, which creates another passive income stream. That mailbox money from our rentals is nice.
